Who needs ProductiveMail?
Have you ever wondered if and when the emails you send are being received and read? Then, ProductiveMail is right for you!

Email is today the main tool of global communication and we spend many hours a day reading, writing and sending emails. But sometimes emails simply don't get read, perhaps because anti-spam tools block them or the recipient's server is down, or he/she is just out of town. Then we all wonder what happened with that email. ProductiveMail makes email communications more effective as it let us know if the messages are getting thru.

How does ProductiveMail work?
ProductiveMail adds a small footer (image and text) to every message you send using the associated email accounts. Then, when the recipient opens the message, the image is automatically read from the ProductiveMail server, which in turn notifies the ProductiveMail viewer that the message has been read. The ProductiveMail viewer will inform you at all times the status of your messages: the date and time they were sent, the date and time they were opened (if already read) and the time elapsed between both events.

Also, you can use ProductiveMail without changing anything about the way you send your messages. You don't need to modify email addresses or compose your messages in another program. Simply associate your email accounts with ProductiveMail and that's it!

Is ProductiveMail different from the read receipts I use in Outlook or Outlook Express?
ProductiveMail works automatically and doesn't bother the recipient with message boxes like the ones used by standard read receipts. Besides, standard read receipts don't work if the recipient reads your message in web-based email clients like Google, Hotmail or Yahoo!. In fact, standard read receipts are so irritating that recipients ignored them most of the time.

Does ProductiveMail break my or the recipient's privacy?
Absolutely not. We believe that the privacy of email correspondence should not be ever compromised. That's why we developed ProductiveMail in a way that your messages go straight from you to the intended recipients, just like they have always done. It means that ProductiveMail doesn't route the messages through our servers or in mysterious ways. Also, ProductiveMail doesn't track how long the emails have been opened or how many times, and won't tell you the physical location of the recipients or their IP address. It only tells you if and when your message was read.

Finally, as part of our commitment to personal privacy, ProductiveMail doesn't contain any form of spyware and never collects or distributes any information regarding the user.

Will my recipients know that I've been notified that they have read my email messages?
Unless you decide to hide the message footer (image and text) to make the read receipt invisible, the recipients will be able to see it and know that you have been notified that they have read your messages. Also, by clicking on our logo the recipients can visit our website to learn all about ProductiveMail.

Note: Only subscribed users can hide the message footer (image and text) to make the read receipt completely invisible.

Why can't I use ProductiveMail with my Google, Hotmail or Yahoo! web-based email client?
Just because ProductiveMail cannot add the small footer (image and text) to the messages you send using these web-based email clients. However, you can still be notified when messages sent to Google, Hotmail or Yahoo! email addresses are opened.

Why can't I use ProductiveMail under a Microsoft Exchange environment?
Because ProductiveMail is not yet compatible with a Microsoft Exchange mail server. However, you can still be notified when messages sent to recipients working under this environment are opened.

How can I manually configure my email client so it works with ProductiveMail?
To manually configure both: your email client and ProductiveMail, follow the steps described here.

Can I change the text that appears in the footer ProductiveMail adds to my messages?
Yes, but only if you are a subscribed user. Subscribed users are allowed to edit the text that appears in the footer to say whatever they like or even hide the message footer (image and text) to make the read receipt completely invisible.

Why are there no ProductiveMail footers (image and text) in my outgoing email messages?
Fist, make sure that you are sending the emails using an associated email account. Next, check that ProductiveMail is enabled and that you are not hiding the footer (image and text). Finally, make sure that your email client is correctly set up to use ProductiveMail. You could re-associate your email accounts to guarantee everything is correct.

Why are my sent emails not listed in the ProductiveMail viewer?
First make sure that you are sending the emails using an associated email account. Next check that ProductiveMail is enabled. Finally make sure that your email client is correctly set up to use ProductiveMail. You could re-associate your email accounts to guarantee everything is correct.

I'm sure my email was read but it doesn't appear as read in the ProductiveMail viewer. Why?
While ProductiveMail works reliably in almost all situations, this may happen if the recipient read the message while being offline or in a plain text mode, or the recipient is using an email client that does not accept HTML or does not fully display HTML content or images. For example, Microsoft Outlook 2003 allows users to view HTML messages without showing images from external sources.

In these cases you should manually mark the email as read in the viewer so you don't get confused in the future about that specific message.

Can I send messages using digital certificates with ProductiveMail?
No, because the footer (image and text) that ProductiveMail needs to add to the outgoing message invalidates the certificate. Digital Certificates are designed to guarantee that an email hasn't been modified in any way after it has been sent. Thus, as a certificate is added when the message leaves your mail client but before being processed by ProductiveMail, any changes made to it after this point will invalidate the certificate.

Then, if you need to send a particular email message using a digital certificate you'll have to disable ProductiveMail before sending that message.

I'm experiencing connection problems such as 'timeouts' or 'host not found' errors. What could be the problem?
If you are using an anti-virus program that automatically scans outgoing messages for viruses, this extra scanning could be the problem as it is a resource intensive process. Please, check the help file of your anti-virus program for more information on how to disable the outgoing email scanning.

Which email clients does ProductiveMail work with?
ProductiveMail works with all email clients that use the standard SMTP protocol. That includes Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express, Mozilla Thunderbird, Eudora, Netscape Mail, Pegasus Mail, etc. However, currently ProductiveMail has direct support for Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express only. It means that for using the other mail clients with ProductiveMail you must configure both programs manually.

How do I uninstall ProductiveMail?
To uninstall ProductiveMail and all of its components, right-click on the ProductiveMail icon in your system tray and click 'Exit' . Then go to 'Start' -> 'Settings' -> 'Control Panel' -> 'Add/Remove Programs', select ProductiveMail and click 'Change/Remove'.
